BOSSANOVA FOUNDER SPEAKS ABOUT TRUST AT TOASTMASTERS DISTRICT CONFERENCE
WASHINGTON, DC, May 19, 2007—BossaNova founder and president Andrea Howe captivated her audience at the District 36 Toastmasters Spring Conference, “A Stellar Celebration,” with her speech, TRUST: A 5-Letter Word for Leadership.
“People were buzzing about it all afternoon,” reported Mary Ann Guerra, a Distinguished Toastmaster and the District 36 Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training, speaking of Howe’s talk. Guerra continued, “She focused on the specific actions you can take to build trust and increase your effectiveness as a leader.”
Directing her speech toward speakers establishing trust with their audiences and officers of Toastmasters building successful clubs, Howe stated, “Leaders aren’t leaders without followers, and followers don’t follow unless they trust their leaders.” Her talk is based on two well-known titles in the professional services industry, The Trusted Advisor and Trust-Based Selling, by Charles H. Green, founder of Trusted Advisor Associates.
In brainstorming and group activities, Howe’s audience talked about the characteristics that distinguish trustworthy people. They learned how to apply that knowledge in the variety of leadership roles they play in life—as club leaders, speakers, and business professionals.
