BOSSANOVA SUPPORTS RETURN TO RESPECT'S 10th ANNIVERSARY GALA, FUNDS DONATED TO SUPPORT FEMALE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE

ORLANDO, October 12, 2009 - Return To Respect, an annual fundraising event providing funds to Central Florida women and children who have been victimized by violence, celebrated its 10th anniversary on October 10th with an evening of dining, comedy and fun. The event took place at Universal Studios Orlando’s Hard Rock Live venue and featured the comedic talents of Chip Epsten and Greg Proops from the improv comedy show “Whose Line Is It, Anyway?”

Fifty percent of the profits from the evening went to benefit Speaking Out About Rape®, Inc (SOAR®), an organization that promotes awareness, education and prevention programs to empower survivors of sexual violence. BossaNova’s founder, Andrea Howe, is personally connected to SOAR®; in 2007 the organization acquired Howe’s Living Out Loud program, which brings improv comedy workshops to survivors of sexual violence who are ready to laugh again.

BossaNova supported the Return To Respect gala as a “Friend of Return to Respect” sponsor level donating $1,000 to the cause. ; In addition to dinner and a comedy show attended by 300 people, the event had over 300 items sold during their silent and live auction, raising a grand total of $30,000.

"SOAR® was honored to be chosen as a beneficiary for this year's gala,” said Kellie Greene, SOAR®’s founder. “We're excited to be able to grow Ms. Howe's vision for the Living Out Loud program with the proceeds from the event. Our goal is to provide six Living Out Loud workshops across the country in 2010. Our heartfelt thanks go to Andrea Howe and BossaNova for their continued support."
