Why We Named Our Company "BossaNova."

We wanted a name that conveyed, “Hey, we’re different.” We knew that something like the "Institute for Consulting Excellence" wasn't going to do it. Plus the last thing the consulting industry needs is another three-letter acronym. We liked the Latin meaning of "nova" (new, refreshed, extraordinary). And we liked the feeling and implications of "bossa nova," which is a popular form of music created by blending Brazilian rhythms with American jazz. When we consulted a Portuguese dictionary and learned that "bossa nova" means "the new beat" or "the new way," we knew we'd struck gold!
